Deputy Chief of Operations
The Deputy Chief of Operations oversees three key divisions: the Road Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, and Operational Support Section. These divisions ensure a comprehensive approach to public safety and community service.
Road Patrol Division
The Road Patrol Division delivers direct police services to the public. Officers in marked patrol cars respond daily to the community’s needs, performing duties such as:
- Responding to 911 calls for service.
- Conducting criminal investigations.
- Enforcing traffic laws and investigating motor vehicle accidents.
- Initiating narcotics investigations.
- Addressing emerging community concerns.
Through proactive policing and consistent community engagement, this division remains the cornerstone of the department’s operations.
Criminal Investigation Division
The Criminal Investigation Division handles all major criminal investigations within the Town of Greece. This division plays a vital role in preserving justice through meticulous evidence management and detailed investigative processes. Key responsibilities include:
- Investigating serious crimes such as homicides, robberies, and assaults.
- Manage and preserve evidence through the Technical Services Unit.
- Collaborating with other agencies for multi-jurisdictional cases.
By combining advanced investigation training with experienced personnel, this division ensures thorough and professional case handling.
Operational Support Section
The Operational Support Section oversees and coordinates specialized units to enhance the department’s capabilities. These include:
- Drone Unit: Providing aerial surveillance and search capabilities.
- Motorcycle Unit: Ensuring mobility and traffic enforcement in diverse environments.
- Honor Guard: Representing the department at ceremonial events.
- K-9 Unit: Assisting in drug detection, weapon detection, building searches, and suspect apprehension.
In addition to managing these critical teams, the section:
- Administers grants to support operational needs.
- Plans and organizes special events.
- Facilitates inter-agency cooperation for large-scale operations.
This section is pivotal in ensuring the department’s readiness and adaptability.
Additional Responsibilities
Under the bureau’s command are several specialized functions, including:
- Maintaining the Sex Offender Registry for the town.
- Supervising the Victim Assistance Program to support affected individuals and families.
- Assigning officers to local and federal task forces, such as narcotics enforcement and anti-terrorism initiatives.
- Coordinating inter-agency investigations that extend beyond the town’s borders.
By addressing these responsibilities with precision and dedication, the Operations Bureau effectively meets the diverse needs of the Town of Greece, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
The Operations Bureau is commanded by Deputy Chief Naser Zenelovic who oversees the Road Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division and the Community Services Division.
The Road Patrol Division is responsible for providing direct police services to the public. This describes what is seen as the traditional role of uniformed police officers in marked police cars responding to the needs of the community each and every day. Officer’s duties include responding to 911 calls for service, conducting criminal investigations, enforcing traffic laws, investigating motor vehicle accidents, initiating narcotics investigations, and addressing the needs of any persons as they arise.
The Criminal Investigation Division is tasked with the investigation of major crimes that take place within the Town of Greece. This includes the preservation of evidence through the Technical Services Unit and the Property Clerk.
The Community Services Division is responsible for crime prevention presentations, assistance with special events, and addressing quality of life issues within the town. It also serves as a liaison with schools and community groups with the Town of Greece
Also under this bureau’s command is the Sex Offender Registry Manager, Victim Assistance Program, officers assigned to local and federal task force’s, and communication with inter-agency investigations that extend beyond the borders of the Town of Greece.
